Fat Rice wanted to roll out a new Macanese Brunch menu, and they needed marketing materials. The pig going crazy eating dim sum was the chef’s idea, and it was maybe one of the most fun things I’ve gotten to draw lately. It was easily one of the most fun to research, since I got to eat my way through the delicious brunch menu.

It only took a sketch or two before we nailed the layout and inked it – I used FC Pitt brush pens over a smooth vellum for the lines. For Fat Rice pieces, I like to do the colors digitally, so I can push and pull them until they’re just the right amount of brash and vibrant. Then I played around with textures and overlays in Photoshop to get that slightly aged peeling wall feel to the background. Dont get me wrong, all of the posters I’ve done for Fat Rice have been a lot of fun, but so far, this one is definitely my favorite.
